After graduating from the University of Kansas School of Law, William P. Mahoney entered the U.S. Navy and served in the Judge Advocate General (JAG) Corps in Philadelphia from 1989 to 1993. While there, he gained significant experience in the military justice area, and during the run-up to the first Gulf War wrote over 2,500 wills for Navy officers and enlisted personnel.

Since returning to the Kansas City area, he has focused his practice on criminal defense, family law and estate planning matters.
